On July 6th 2018, Hals Van der Poorten, will host his final exhibition at the age of 82. This show is a not to be missed chance of acquiring masterpieces from a highly skilled and brilliant artist with over 100 000 kilometres of brush mileage to his name. The works will be highly, if not ridiculously affordable as, facing his own mortality, Hals only wish is to have his work adorn a wall of an appreciator. You will surely be able to acquire a bargain at his show, so don't miss it!
Opening night is at the Percolater Gallery, Latrobe Tce, Paddington.

Hals' life is indeed full of colour, light and intensity like his paintings. A one time tea planter, inventor, engineer and runaway, he has lived a life of extraordinary adventures. Many of his memories of the tea estates he managed as a young man find their way onto his canvases, such as in the image below.
As a young boy, Hals grew up in rural Sri-Lanka and paints from memories of a time long gone. These evocative images of lost boyhood and landscape will resonate with many from the diasporas of Asia.
However, the landscapes of the Australian bush, the land that gave him freedom and a home for over 4 decades are indelibly imprinted in his heart and are visited frequently with paint, each rendition unique and new.
The elements of the earth, water, air, fire pour out of his imaginings onto vivid canvasess, all in the urgent haste of a man possessed by the muse of mother nature herself.
Hals Van der Poorten, deserves recognition for his talent before it is too late. We would be delighted for your acknowledgement at his show by your very welcome presence.
